The Station was established at Kemigawa, Chiba in 1965 with the aim of conducting experiments on landscape and ornamental plants and for the training of students in the art of landscaping.

On the premises are located Japanese style gardens for training and experimental seedling nurseries of street and garden trees, shrubs, hedge plants, ornamental plants and turf grasses.

A large number of varieties of lotus, camellia and other species are also collected both domestically and from abroad and preserved.

The number of people utilizing the station facilities is approximately 4000 man-days per year.
