Characterization of xenobiotic-degrading bacteria

Bioremediation is an environmentally sustainable technology that removes contaminants from soil and water. My research focuses on screening xenobiotic-degrading bacteria, identifying the genes responsible for degradation, and analyzing transcriptional regulatory networks within the cells. Since degradative genes are sometimes found on plasmids, we also study the effect of plasmid carriage on the host bacteria.
