The graduate school of agricultural and life sciences (GSALS) consists of 12 departments and 8 affiliated institutions and covers a wide field of research that constitute the fundamentals of agricultural life sciences in the 21st century. The graduate school has signed academic exchange agreements with universities worldwide.

Agricultural and Environmental Biology

Biological research concerning agricultural production, and creation, management and conservation of environment.

Applied Biological Chemistry

Analysis of biological phenomena which are important for the basic and applied biological fields. Production of useful materials for human life by biological and chemical technique.

Applied and basic life sciences on microorganisms, animals and plants.

Our department will contribute to addressing numerous environment issues, such as global warming, acid rain, desertification and the degradation of tropical rainforests.

Aquatic Bioscience

Our department offers a variety of education and research which focus on aquatic life science, production, environment and on the appropriate utilization of aquatic resources.

Agricultural and Resource Economics

Economic studies on agricultural production, resource management, environmental issues and developing economies.

Biological and Environmental Engineering

Covering all the aspects of Biological and Environmental issues by applying engineering sciences.

Biomaterial Sciences

Studies on structure, properties and utilization of biologically produced materials including wood, structural polysaccharides and proteins.

Global Agricultural Sciences

Research and education are conducted in fisheries, forest environment and forest products, animal and plant sciences, and environmental economics with the major stress on issues of global importance.

Ecosystem Studies

We are engaged in the fundamental and/or applied studies for the management of ecosystems in harmony with human activities.

Animal Resource Sciences

Molecular Immunology, Applied Genetics, Cellular Biochemistry, Cell Regulation, Veterinary Ethology, Livestock Biotechnology.

Veterinary Medical Sciences

Veterinary Medical Sciences are the fields based on comparative biology, therefore a wide variety of research and education, including basic medicine, basic biology, and veterinary clinical medicine are conducted.
