Selection is based on the evaluation of the written examination (English (or Japanese) and Special Subjects*), interviews and screening of submitted documents. Most international students join the graduate school as a Research Student, pass the entrance exam and then enroll for the regular course.

*Special Subjects vary with the department.

Applicants must, therefore, first communicate with the prospective supervisor and obtain approval before submitting the application.
